DPE Advances Sports Science Research to Identify Thailand’s Next Generation of Badminton Talent
Department of Physical Education Conducts Field Research on Youth Badminton Athletes at T.Thailand Club
June 11–12, 2026 | T.Thailand Badminton Arena, Nonthaburi Province
Mr.Mongkon Wimonrat, Director-General of the Department of Physical Education, has approved the Bureau of Sports Science to carry out data collection for a research project titled “Sports Talent Indicators: Development of Normative Criteria for Assessing Distinguished Characteristics of High-Potential Badminton Athletes.” The initiative marks an important step in strengthening Thailand’s national sports science database.
The field data collection was led by Dr.Acharat Yongtawee, Director of the Bureau of Sports Science, in his capacity as Director of the Department of Physical Education’s sports science research program. Together with a team of researchers, Dr. Acharat visited T.Thailand Club to conduct testing and performance assessments of the club’s youth badminton athletes. The assessments covered body composition, physical fitness, and cognitive abilities, with the aim of identifying athletes’ true potential across different age groups.
The collected data will be analyzed and developed into normative data, serving as an academic tool for identifying talented athletes and designing training programs tailored to the potential of youth badminton players in the future. This evidence-based approach is expected to support more systematic, transparent, and data-driven planning for the development of young Thai athletes.
The research project is funded by the Thailand Science Research and Innovation Promotion Commission (TSRI) for Fiscal Year 2025. The Department of Physical Education will continue its data collection efforts to ensure a comprehensive, reliable, and highly applicable dataset that can effectively contribute to the development of Thailand’s national athletes.
This research-driven initiative reflects the Department of Physical Education’s strong commitment to advancing Thai sports development through scientific knowledge, with the goal of nurturing Thai athletes who are fully prepared to compete on the international stage.
