Department of Physical Education Partners with Chiang Mai to Boost Community Recreation and Wellness
The Department of Physical Education's Bureau of Recreation, in collaboration with the Chiang Mai Provincial Office of Tourism and Sports, is implementing the "District-Level Healthy Recreational Community Promotion Activity" under the 2026 Healthy Recreational Community Promotion Project. The initiative is running from June 22 to July 17, 2026, across all 25 districts of Chiang Mai province.
As part of the program, the Department of Physical Education assigned Jidapa Jetniphitapha, Director of the Community Recreation Group, and Kanyarat Khamsila of the Bureau of Recreation, to monitor the implementation of the district-level activities in four districts between July 6-7, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A total of 136 people took part across the following events:
July 6, 2026
Line dance and aerobics were held at the San Klang Subdistrict Municipality activity ground in San Kamphaeng District, drawing 28 participants. Suphachok Ronghankaew, Mayor of San Klang Subdistrict Municipality, and his team discussed residents' interest in and demand for recreational activities, along with the benefits of such programs, and praised the Department's initiative.
Nail dance (Fon Lep), Bass Loop dance, retro folk dance (Ramwong), aerobics, and line dance were held at the Yang Noeng Subdistrict Municipality ground in Saraphi District, with 27 participants.
July 7, 2026
Aerobics were held at the Nong Pa Khrang Subdistrict Municipality multipurpose hall in Mueang Chiang Mai District, attracting 32 participants. Sriroj Inchai, Deputy Mayor of Nong Pa Khrang Subdistrict Municipality, and his team joined the recreational activities and welcomed the visiting officials.
Line dance, aerobics, and retro folk dance (Ramwong) were held at the Mae Khue Subdistrict Municipality ground in Doi Saket District, with 49 participants. Wisit Tumsiri, Mayor of Mae Khue Subdistrict Municipality, joined residents in the recreational activities and commended both the project and the Department's programming.
According to the monitoring results, local residents have shown consistent interest in regularly participating in these activities, which have helped cultivate community recreation leaders capable of sharing knowledge and encouraging productive use of leisure time. As a result, community members are experiencing improved overall wellbeing, in line with the project's objectives.
