Bangkok Christian Strike Late to Claim U18 Division A Title at “Department of Physical Education–Dailynews Cup 2026,” Stun Defending Champions Suankularb in Thrilling Final

The final of the “Department of Physical Education–Dailynews Cup 2026” football tournament, competing for the Royal Trophy graciously bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, was held between Bangkok Christian College and Suankularb Wittayalai School.

Bangkok Christian College defeated Suankularb Wittayalai 2–0 to claim the championship title.

On this occasion, Mr. Mongkon Wimonrat, Director-General of the Department of Physical Education, assigned Mr. Sirot Meeyot, Director of the Bureau of Sports, to represent the Department at the award presentation ceremony. He was joined by executives of the Department of Physical Education, executives of Dailynews, and sponsors of the tournament in presenting awards for the Inter-School Football Competition, Under-18 Division A, “Department of Physical Education–Dailynews Cup 2026,” competing for the Royal Trophy graciously bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, for the 2026 academic year.

The highly anticipated final saw defending champions Suankularb Wittayalai School, known as the “Pink-Blue,” face Bangkok Christian College, known as the “Purple-Gold.” Both sides started brightly and exchanged attacks in a closely contested first half, but neither team was able to break the deadlock, with the score level at 0–0 at halftime.

The intensity continued after the restart, with both teams battling fiercely for control. Bangkok Christian eventually found the breakthrough in the 84th minute when Pakorn Sutthiprapha broke through and finished to give the Purple-Gold side a 1–0 lead.

Suankularb’s hopes of a comeback took a further blow when Nantapreecha Phromkhan was shown a red card, leaving the defending champions with 10 players. Bangkok Christian then sealed the victory in stoppage time, as Panupong Wan-on scored in the 90+3rd minute to make it 2–0.

The win secured Bangkok Christian College the championship and the Royal Trophy, marking the school’s first Under-18 Division A title in 18 years, following its previous triumph in 2008. Suankularb Wittayalai finished as runners-up, while Assumption College Thonburi and Assumption College Sriracha shared third place.
