The final match of the 2026 Department of Physical Education–Daily News Cup, the Inter-School Football Tournament (Under-16, Category A), competing for the Royal Trophy graciously bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, took place between Assumption Thonburi School and Debsirin School. The match ended with Assumption Thonburi securing a 2-0 victory to claim the championship title.

On this occasion, Mr. Mongkol Wimonrat, Director-General of the Department of Physical Education, assigned Dr. Suthon Vichairat, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Physical Education, to represent the Department at the award presentation ceremony. Joining the ceremony were executives of the Department of Physical Education, executives from Daily News, and representatives of the tournament’s sponsors.

The championship match featured two of Thailand’s leading school football powerhouses. Assumption Thonburi, known as the “Jao Sua Noi” (Little Tycoons), made a dream start by taking the lead in the 10th minute through Sukpasarat Pongsura, giving the team an early advantage. Both sides exchanged attacking opportunities throughout the remainder of the first half, but neither could add to the scoreline, leaving Assumption Thonburi ahead 1-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Debsirin pushed forward in search of an equalizer. However, Assumption Thonburi’s defense remained disciplined and resilient. The decisive moment arrived in the 77th minute when Pitchaya Wuttichai broke through to score his side’s second goal, extending the lead to 2-0. The strike was his seventh goal of the tournament.

No further goals were scored, and the final whistle confirmed a 2-0 victory for Assumption Thonburi. The triumph secured the school’s seventh Under-16 Category A championship title and completed a perfect campaign, with the team winning every match throughout the tournament.
