On November 1, 2016, at Leung Nok Tha Municipal School, Leung Nok Tha District, Yasothon Province, Dr. Surasit Singlong, Director of the Yasothon Provincial Tourism and Sports Office, presided over the opening ceremony of the training program for football, futsal, and volleyball referees organized by the Department of Physical Education. A total of 150 participants attended the training.

The Institute for the Development of Physical Education and Sports Personnel, Department of Physical Education, organized a training program for football, futsal, and volleyball referees. The aim was to increase the number of referees and develop their knowledge and skills to meet international standards, including understanding changing rules and regulations, and fostering a positive attitude towards sports refereeing. The target group for this training consisted of individuals from both the public and private sectors. The training took place from November 1st to 5th, 2016, with 150 participants from the three sports. The methods included lectures, demonstrations, and practical training in refereeing duties, as well as theoretical and practical tests conducted by instructors and experts in each sport from the Department of Physical Education.

For this training, the Department of Physical Education has added a new curriculum for sports referees to provide participants with new knowledge to apply in their duties. This includes topics such as the ethics of sports refereeing, sharing of experiences from instructors in each sport, motivating sports referees, and exchanging knowledge and experiences. This curriculum is crucial in developing referees' knowledge and understanding of how to perform their duties correctly, fairly, and in order to become high-quality referees.

Dr. Surasit Singlong, Director of the Yasothon Provincial Tourism and Sports Office, stated, "The Department of Physical Education's support for organizing training for sports referees aims to increase the number of qualified personnel to officiate sports correctly. This will ensure that competitions gain interest from all parties—children, youth, and the general public—and foster understanding of sports, how to play sports, how to watch sports, how to cheer for sports, and how to correctly understand refereeing procedures. Sports build character, and character builds the nation. Personnel development emphasizes morality and ethics."
