The Department of Physical Education's Cup football tournament is ready to kick off in early November.

On October 20, 2017, at the Supachalasai Conference Room, National Stadium, Mr. Winit Chanmontri, Director of the Sports Bureau, Department of Physical Education, chaired a meeting to explain the rules and regulations and conduct the draw for the 2017 Department of Physical Education Student Football Competition, Category A, ages 14, 16, and 18. The purpose was to ensure understanding and consistent procedures. Coaches and representatives from the participating schools attended the meeting.

The 2017 Department of Physical Education Student Football Competition for the U14, U16, and U18 age groups, Category A, features 48 participating teams. The competition is divided into three age groups: Category A - Under 14 (16 teams), competing for the Department of Physical Education's trophy; Category A - Under 16 (16 teams), competing for the trophy bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana; and Category A - Under 18 (16 teams), competing for the trophy bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Matches will be held from November 6th, 2017 onwards at the Chalerm Phra Kiat Stadium, Khlong 6; Thep Hatsadin Stadium; and Supachalasai Stadium. In Category A, all three age groups will be divided into two groups of eight teams each, playing a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, while the teams ranked 7th and 8th will be relegated to Category B.

Mr. Winit Chanmontri, Director of the Mass Exercise and Sports Group and Acting Director of the Sports Bureau, Department of Physical Education, stated, “The Department of Physical Education's Category A football tournament is considered the highest level of student football, therefore the competition is quite fierce. The Director-General of the Department of Physical Education strongly emphasizes that in this football tournament, athletes and coaches must demonstrate their abilities to the fullest, show sportsmanship during the competition, accept the referee's decisions, and be honest in their duties. The Category A student football tournament for the U16 and U18 age groups will award royal trophies, so I urge all teams to fight their hardest as a stepping stone to playing professional football and eventually the national team.”

The results of the draw for the student football tournament, organized by the Department of Physical Education, are as follows:

Category A, Under 14 Years Old: Group A consists of: Phattharabophit School (defending champion), Thepmitr Suksa School, Phothinimitt Wittayakom School, Surasak Wittayakom School, Bangkok Christian College, Nakhon Pathom Municipal Sports School, Thakhampittayakom School, and Suankularb Wittayalai School. Group B consists of : Assumption Thonburi School, Wat Chom Khiri Nak Phrot Municipal School, Khon Kaen Provincial Sports School, Nakhon Sawan Provincial Sports School, Suankularb Wittayalai Nonthaburi School, Assumption Sriracha School, Pathum Khongkha School, and Suankularb Wittayalai Pathum Thani School.

The Under-16 age group, Group A, consists of Assumption Thonburi School (defending champions), Thakham Pittayakhom School, Surasakmontri School, Nakhon Ratchasima Municipal Sports School, Thepsirin School, Rajadamnern Commercial Technical School, Phattharabopit School, and Nong Pho Wittaya School. Group B consists of Ratchawinit Bangkaew School, Phothinimith Wittayakhom School, Assumption Sriracha School, Khon Kaen Provincial Sports School, Thanyarat School, Suphan Buri Provincial Sports School, Pratheungthip Wittaya School, and Pathum Khongkha School.

The Under-18 age group, Group A, consists of Assumption Thonburi School (defending champions), Phothinimith Wittayakom School, Ang Thong Girls' School, Pathum Khongka School, Thepsirin School, Bangkok Christian College, Suan Pa Khao Cha-ang School, and Tha Kham Pittayakom School. Group B consists of Khon Kaen Provincial Sports School, Phattharabopit School, Suankularb Wittayalai School, Assumption Sriracha School, Ratchawinit Bangkaew School, Rajadamnern Commercial Technical School, Surasakmontri School, and Satri Witthaya 2 School.
