Department of Physical Education Organizes Sports Talent Camp in Muay Thai to Enhance the Physical and Mental Fitness of Young Athletes in Nakhon Pathom

On May 22, 2026, Mr.Mongkon Wimonrat, Director-General of the Department of Physical Education, assigned Mr.Atcharat Yongtawee, Director of the Bureau of Sports Science, Department of Physical Education, to preside over the opening ceremony of the workshop to promote sports talent, “Creating Stars of Tomorrow: Sports Talent Camp.”

The activity is held under the project to develop the physical and mental fitness of young athletes and support their journey toward becoming world-class athletes in the future, for fiscal year 2026. The opening ceremony was attended by a team of speakers, teachers, youth Muay Thai athletes, students competing in Keeta Muay Thai, and students interested in Muay Thai, aged between 13 and 18, totaling 60 participants. The camp is being held from May 22–24, 2026, at San Parlm Training Home, Kamphaeng Saen District, Nakhon Pathom Province.

The workshop to promote sports talent aims to systematically enhance the potential of Thai youth athletes. It focuses on providing knowledge in sports science that can be applied to improve athletic performance, together with testing and assessing key characteristics that indicate special abilities among children and youth in each sport. The workshop also emphasizes strengthening both physical and mental fitness to prepare young athletes to confidently and effectively advance toward becoming world-class athletes in the future.

Today’s training sessions feature several interesting topics, including:

“Pathway for Developing Muay Thai Athletes to the World Level,” delivered by Assistant Professor Acting Sub Lt. Dr.Chonnawat Sappasit, Chulalongkorn University;

“Biomechanics and AI Technology in Enhancing the Potential of Muay Thai Athletes,” delivered by Assistant Professor Dr.Pornpot Chainok and team, Burapha University;

“Mental Skills for Muay Thai Training and Competition,” delivered by Assistant Professor Dr.Wimonmas Prachakul and team, Kasetsart University; and

“Assessment of Brain Fitness and Cognitive Abilities,” delivered by the Research and Development Group, Bureau of Sports Science, Department of Physical Education.
