Director-General of the Department of Physical Education Attends the Grand Opening Ceremony of the "Surat Thani Games"

Mr. Mongkol Wimonrat, Director-General of the Department of Physical Education, honored the opening ceremony of the 41st National Youth Games, "Surat Thani Games." The grand and spectacular event was presided over by Mr. Surasak Phancharoenworakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports. Also in attendance were Mr. Chumphot Wannachatsiri, Governor of Surat Thani Province, Dr. Gongsak Yodmani, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand, executives from agencies under the ministry, representatives from the public and private sectors, members of the press, team officials, athletes, and a massive crowd of spectators.

The 41st National Youth Games "Surat Thani Games" are scheduled to take place from May 7 – 17, 2026, in Surat Thani Province. The games feature a total of 45 sports and 1 demonstration sport, drawing a lively participation of athletes and officials from across the country. The National Youth Games serve as a critical platform for developing the athletic potential of Thai youth, while simultaneously boosting tourism, the economy, and the national image of Surat Thani Province.

Earlier that morning, Mr. Mongkol Wimonrat also presided over the opening ceremony of the "Sports Science Showcase" for the 2026 fiscal year. This initiative, part of the Mobile Sports Science Project aimed at enhancing the health and well-being of children and youth, was launched within the festival grounds of the 41st National Youth Games. The morning ceremony was attended by Mr. Withasak Chamroennusit, Deputy Governor of Surat Thani Province, Mr. Atcharat Yongthavi, Director of the Sports Science Bureau of the Department of Physical Education, Mr. Suwat Luangtrakul, Director of the Sports Science Department of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), alongside executive committees from both SAT and the Department of Physical Education, local government representatives, and distinguished guests.

Department of Physical Education and the Sports Authority of Thailand—in driving "Sports Science" into field-level practical application. These elements are essential for upgrading the capabilities of Thai athletes to meet international standards. Furthermore, the showcase offers an open opportunity for athletes, youth, and the general public to learn about and experiment with sports technology up close, raising awareness regarding proper exercise methods and scientific healthcare.

Interested individuals can visit and participate in the Sports Science Showcase from May 7–13, 2026, between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM at the Central Stadium of Surat Thani Province (located behind the boxing gymnasium) during the 41st National Youth Games "Surat Thani Games."
