“Dr. Suthon, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Physical Education,” Attends the Appreciation Plaque Presentation and Award Ceremony for Athletes at the "TOYOTA THAILAND OPEN 2026”

Mr. Mongkol Wimonrat, Director-General of the Department of Physical Education, assigned Dr. Suthon Wichairat, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Physical Education, to represent the department in receiving an appreciation plaque for cooperating in organizing the "TOYOTA THAILAND OPEN 2026" Badminton Tournament. The prestigious event, competing for H.M. the King’s Trophy, is a BWF World Tour Super 500 level tournament with a total prize pool of 500,000 USD (approximately 16,500,000 THB). Air Chief Marshal Monthon Satchukorn, President of the Badminton Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King, welcomed and presented the plaque of appreciation to the Department of Physical Education to honor and thank the agency for supporting the event. This collaboration plays a crucial role in promoting and elevating the standards of Thai badminton onto the international stage. The tournament was held from May 12 - 17, 2026, at Nimibutr Stadium, National Stadium.

On this occasion, Air Chief Marshal Chalit Pukbhasuk, Privy Councilor and Honorary Advisor to the Badminton Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage, alongside Air Chief Marshal Monthon Satchukorn, President of the Association, Dr. Suthon Wichairat, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Physical Education, and Air Chief Marshal Pichitchai Surakitphiphat, Chief of Staff to the Commander, Royal Thai Air Force, honored the event by presenting awards for the Women's Singles Finals.

The championship title went to Akane Yamaguchi, the tournament's top seed, world No. 3, and 3-time World Champion from Japan, who defeated Chen Yufei, the second seed and world No. 4 from China, 2-0 games (21-14, 21-18). Yamaguchi claimed the crown along with a prize money of 37,500 USD (approximately 1,222,500 THB), while the runner-up, Chen Yufei, received 19,000 USD (approximately 619,400 THB).
